March through May and October through November — warm days in the cities, cool desert nights that don't freeze, and open Atlas trails. Summer pushes inland cities past 40°C (coast excepted); winter is the desert's best season but means near-freezing camp nights and snow on the High Atlas.

Month by month, honestly
March–May: the best all-round window — 20–30°C in the cities, wildflowers in the Atlas, comfortable dunes. Book riads ahead around Easter.
June–September: Marrakech and Fes regularly pass 40°C at midday. The trip still works if your mornings start early and afternoons hide in gardens, hammams or the coast — Essaouira and Taghazout stay in the 20s all summer.
October–November: the second sweet spot. Sea's still warm, desert nights mild, city terraces perfect.
December–February: the desert's season — crisp sunny days, magical light, but pack real layers for near-0°C camp nights. Toubkal needs crampons and a guide; cities are mild by day and surprisingly cold indoors at night (riads are built for heat).
Ramadan changes the rhythm, not the trip
During Ramadan (shifting ~11 days earlier each year — landing across Jan–Mar in the late 2020s), daytime café life slows and some kitchens close until sunset, then the country comes alive for iftar. Tourist restaurants and riads keep serving. Visiting during Ramadan is genuinely interesting — just plan later dinners and don't eat ostentatiously in the street by day.
